Its Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Daniel Aina on Friday in Lagos said that the cut-off mark was aimed at “liberalising admission” into tertiary institutions and give access to the best candidates. “The 120 cut-off mark was a joint decision of all Nigeria universities vice chancellors, not the JAMB alone. “Since universities are still at liberty to conduct Post-Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination ( UTME ) to access their candidates and select the best, we are sure to still have the best students in the system to admit,’’ he said. Fed Govt borrowing to save jobs, says minister

Image
The Federal Government’s desire to borrow more funds from international creditors is to prevent job losses, Finance Minister Kemi Adeosun has said. Mrs. Adeosun, who spoke yesterday at a joint press conference with the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Godwin Emefiele, at the conclusion of 2017 International Monetary Fund (IMF)/World Bank Group Annual Meetings in Washington D.C, said with Nigeria’s source of revenue dropping  by nearly 85 per cent, the country had no option but to borrow.  The option before the country was to either cut public services massively, which should have led to massive job losses, or borrow in the short-term, until it begins to generate sufficient revenues, she said. “We felt that laying-off thousands of persons was not the best way to stimulate growth. Also, when we came into office, about 27 states could not pay salary. If we had allowed that situation to persist, we would have been in depression by now. So, we took the view...

He said this while speaking to  Punch , adding that his divorce is illegal, as neither him nor his lawyer was at the court to sign the divorce papers. He said: The court dissolved my marriage illegally; I want people to get it right. For you to dissolve a marriage, the man and his lawyer must be present in court to sign some documents. Ask them, was either my lawyer or myself present in court on that day? Is it possible to say the marriage has been dissolved? My wife says that I am a wifebeater but the same woman two years ago in church during counselling, wrote it down that I am a caring man who is selfless and loves his family. She wrote that I love her and my lawyer still has the written note. She made this statement at The Redeemed Assemblies of God church in Magodo, L...
